I recently visited a shopping mall in Lagos Nigeria and one thing that fascinated me were 2 kids wearing what looked like sneakers but they were both rolling about as if there were wearing skating shoes. One the outside, it didn't look like a skating shoe but just sneakers but they were able to run and slid in them as if they were experts.

I didn't grow up wearing those kind of shoes and they seemed cool so I got closer to look at them and noticed that they had tyres or rollers attached at the back under of their sneakers and it made them able to glide about as if they were wearing skating boots.

I have to say that those heely shoes are cool and would be a lovely gift to give to any kid in Nigeria so that they can play around by walking, running and rolling about while wearing the same footwear.

Ordinarily, skating shoes are popular in Nigeria as many kids and teenagers now wear them about as I've even seen a couple of them running about and attaching themselves to commercial buses and threewheelers just to tap the force they need to skate faster on the roads. A skating shoe tends to have a much bigger tyre than the one I've seen on these wheeled sneakers I've recently seen and would probably not be popular among teenagers or adults but a wheeled sneaker or heely would be ok for a kid within 5 to 12 yeas of age as they don't move too fast or have big tyres/rollers.

Those Nigerians kids who I saw wearing a heely shoe were already using them as experts as they knew how to stop and roll. To roll on them, one needs to raise the front feet upwards so that they would now rest on the rollers and then push themselves forward. The could run a bit first and then switch their balance to the back under of their feet/shoe so that it would roll. Since the rollers/tyres are on the back, one can only roll when the front under of their feet has been raised up.
