How much is a reasonable price to pay for a mobile internet data plan in Nigeria? Well, I have to say that it's a bit more expensive than normal internet services that are designed for computers.

With MTN Nigeria, it costs me about N1000 just to buy a 100 MB data plan from my SIM but I was able to spend just about the same about to get a 1GB data plan.

Truly speaking, there are no GSM companies now offering a 1GB data plan for less than N2000 but I just bought a 1GB data plan on MTN for just N1100. It's actually N1000 but the extra N100 is the additional convenience fee you have to pay when paying online with Quickteller.

This was made possible through a vendor that was using MTN's SME data share platform. MTN's SME data share is a platform that allows people to buy data plan bundles from MTN at a good discount and be able to share or sell it to others at a good price. Yes, the price gets even lower that what MTN is offering themselves for their data plans.

The normal price to get a 1GB data plan on MTN costs about N3500 but if you are on the MTN SME data share platform, you could be able to buy up to 75GB for just 52,500. Now that translates to as little as N700 for 1GB worth of data.

There are many people now who normally buy data plan bundles from MTN and resell them to end users like me and I was able to buy mine from a vendor for just N1100.

I did it by going to the seller's website, placing an order and made payment through Interswitch's platform using my Verve card and got my data bundle just after about 10 minutes of placing the order.

In teh future however, I think I'd rather just buy the 10GB data plan, use the one I need for a month and sell out the remaining to my friends and family
